A CURE FOR DIABETES

Last Updated Wednesday Oct 30, 2002 - noon EST

After waking up up at 4 a.m., Chad and Dad drove to Albany Airport - to catch first flight. Then by way of Newark they flew to Las Vegas. Upon arrival at Vegas (late) they hopped on a shuttle bus for another couple of hours - and enjoyed the company of the cheeze wiz kids from Wisconsin along with Bob Hanisch (center - staring at Dad - wondering if this bozo with the camera is going to talk all the way to the top of Jubilee Pass) who served as National Coach for the ride. Eventually they arrived at Furnace Creek Ranch at the gateway to Death Valley National Park. Thumbs down for flight arrangements. But Thumbs UP for the rest of the trip.

That's Chad under the black FOX hat, way in the back of the bus.

As is a JDRF tradition, we have to get to know each other. So Chad and Dad head off to the reception for introductions and munchies.

Here's one of the cheeze whizzers wearing a Badgers hat. Cheeze whizzers have sharp teeth (must be from eating sharp cheddar) and raise money for research by threatening to bite anyone who does not donate; a violent but effective trait.
