A CURE FOR DIABETES

Last Updated Wednesday Oct 30, 2002 - noon EST

It's Friday morning. We've just consumed illegal quantities of eggs, bacon, biscuits and gravy and now it's time to prepare for our tuneup ride. Here's Chad wondering if his bike is really on board?

Here's Team Chad and Dad - they just got their bikes off a truck that carried dozens of bikes from Northeastern NY, NYC, LI and other points south and west. Hmmm - Whatz that white stuff? Snow? oops - I need to crop that image - will do that later. After all - we all know it doesn't snow or rain in Death Valley (lol - stay tuned - we will see what develops).

Here's Team Chad and Dad - same shot - close up. They don't look bad for getting up 5 a.m. (oh - that's California time - so they really slept 'til 8 NY time. That's why they are smiling.)

Here's the Northeastern NY team (includes Hudson Valley, Capital District, GlensFalls and and some from over the border in Mass. We're all about to head out for a tune-up ride - up to Zambroski (or something like that) Lookout. About 5 miles out - gentle climb - for 10 mile Round Trip.

Well - some of the gang made it to the top. Perhaps others stopped for coffee. As it turns out - that gentle climb wasn't so gentle at the end. Chad was wishing he had his mountain bike - so he could go off roading.

After the tune-up ride it was off to the pool. Chad still has his hat.
